Booja-Booja: making delicious chocolate truffles and helping others.
We like to help charities that make a difference and align with our ethos. We support two charities every year, one ‘nearby’ and one ‘faraway’. The two selected charities share 5% of our profit. In addition, we support employees who seek sponsorship for charities, where their personal involvement helps raise awareness and funds.
We currently support:
Fauna & Flora International
The vanilla extract we use in our Keep Smiling Vanilla M’Gorilla Ice Cream Alternative is from Africa’s Virunga National Park, home to the critically endangered mountain gorilla. Farming the vanilla helps support the park’s precious ecosystem. The vanilla farmers have a close relationship with the park authorities and this industry gives them a chance to make a legal living without resorting to cutting down trees and poaching. In this way, vanilla farming both supports the local community and protects the precious natural environment. There are currently less than 800 Mountain Gorillas.
Every time a customer buys a large or small tub of Keep Smiling Vanilla M’Gorilla, Booja-Booja donates 15% of the profits to Fauna & Flora International who play an import role within the International Gorilla Conservation Programme.
There is an image of a mountain gorilla on our Keep Smiling Vanilla M’Gorilla Ice Cream Alternative packaging to demonstrate this link-up. As well as contributing financially to the important Gorilla conservation work, we also help to raise awareness of the precarious plight of these amazing creatures.
