We were absolutely chuffed to bits to scoop two gold awards and a silver at the annual 2018 FreeFrom Food Awards, as well as being Runner Up for Overall Winner 2018 this week.
Booja-Booja simply sublime Hazelnut Crunch Chocolate Truffles won gold in the Confectionery and Chocolate category and were runner up to the Overall Free From Food Award Winner 2018. Our scrumptious Booja-Booja Chocolate Salted Caramel Dairy Free Ice Cream won gold in the Desserts and Puddings category, with Caramel Pecan Praline Dairy Free Ice Cream scooping a silver award in the same category.
The judging panel, made some really lovely comments about our Hazelnut Crunch Chocolate Truffles saying they have a ‘great balance of flavour between hazelnut and chocolate – great quality,’ … ‘very pure ingredients – really lovely flavour and melts so well in the mouth,’ and ‘feels luxurious – good even shape, delicate taste but good crunch of hazelnuts.’ The same Hazelnut Crunch Chocolate Truffles, as part of the Booja-Booja hand painted Easter Egg range, also won the Good Housekeeping Easter Egg Taste Test 2018.
The FreeFrom Food Award judges praised Booja-Booja Chocolate Salted Caramel Dairy Free Ice Cream as being ‘very creamy ice cream with a great nutty sauce mixed in,’ … ‘very clean ingredients sheet and great taste – wonderfully creamy,’ and finally ‘lovely flavour – rippled-in sauce made it taste more luxurious – sugar content admirably low for an ice cream.’
The silver award winning Caramel Pecan Praline Dairy Free Ice Cream was highlighted as having a ‘beautiful pecan-rich flavour with golden flecks of sweetness – and oh so creamy!’ with another judge adding, ‘wonderful creamy texture – sharp caramel taste with nice chewy bits.’
We’re really very pleased that our Hazelnut Crunch Truffles have won best confectionery and chocolate product nearly 20 years after their launch, and that our relatively new Chocolate Salted Caramel Dairy Free Ice Cream also won its category.
