Just which of our ice creams partner perfectly with traditional winter puddings and festive food? The Booja-Booja Technical Taste Team were set a challenge (it’s a hard job, but someone’s got to do it) to taste test each of our creamy ice cream varieties together with some yummy desserts, to see which flavour would compliment each pudding to a t. The results are quite surprising. Read on and make sure you’ve got the perfect pudding partner ready for your menu.
Traditional Mince Pies and Caramel Pecan Praline
December ’tis the season to eat mince pies, so our top tasting team set to, working out which of our delicious dairy free ice creams goes best with these traditional treats. And the winner is… drum roll please… Caramel Pecan Praline! Creamy, sweet and nutty, this Great Taste Award winning ice cream delight brings out the seasonal spices of the sweet mince pie filling, while complementing the rich pastry pie case. In short, these two are festive pudding partners to be enjoyed and savoured!
Chocolate Fudge Pudding and Raspberry Ripple
Our top tasting team were delighted when Freaks of Nature got in touch and asked them to taste test their brand new hot puddings with our scrummy ice creams. All six varieties of ice cream were taste tested against the pudding, with envious commentators considering that surely a chocolate ice cream would come out top, but creamy Raspberry Ripple stole the show, making our taste testers think of Black Forest Gateau. Keep Smiling Vanilla M’Gorilla was also very yummy, but for those really craving chocolate, Hunky Punky Chocolate delivered a double chocolate whammy with an intense chocolate fudge hit.
Sticky Toffee and Caramel Pecan
On the very same day, our taste testers also tucked into Sticky Toffee pudding from our friends at Freaks of Nature. Tasting notes from the technical team indicate that Caramel Pecan Praline is just amazing with this pudding, complimenting the flavours in the pudding. A close second however was Raspberry Ripple, bringing out a cinnamon flavour and adding extra fruity spicy notes to the pudding, and tasting just a bit like Christmas. For the purists, Hunky Punky Chocolate brings out the caramel flavour and Keep Smiling Vanilla M’Gorilla places the accent on ginger.
Christmas Pudding and Hazelnut Chocolate Truffle
To our tasting team’s surprise, Hazelnut Chocolate Truffle ice Cream came out well and truly on top when taste tested against traditional Christmas pudding. Caramel Pecan Praline came a close second, but Hazelnut Chocolate Truffle really brought out the flavour and truly accented the fruity, nutty nature of the pudding. For a more mellow hit, Caramel Pecan Praline gave the Christmas pudding a delicious sweet caramel warmth and a spicy fruit combination. Keep Smiling Vanilla M’Gorilla is of course the more traditional choice, complimenting the pudding without impacting on the flavour.
