A search for hidden talent!

‘From Costessey to Great Yarmouth and in Between’ is your chance to be part of something very special. Total Ensemble is the county’s first and only fully integrated, inclusive and independent theatre company and they’re looking for new members.

Founded in Norwich in 2011, Total Ensemble Theatre Company (TETC) specialises in integrated casts of disabled and non-disabled performers. It offers a unique and rewarding experience in making original theatre and working with people from all walks of life: individuals who may have had prior experience in public performance or complete beginners of all ages. In 2017, it was the first company of its kind to open the Norfolk and Norwich Festival. ‘It’s a Wonderful Moon, George!’, was an outdoor production devised to complement Luke Jerram’s giant moon installation suspended in the centre of the Forum. It was a truly unique performance that left crowds captivated.

In 2018, TETC was commissioned by the the Hostry Festival, Norfolk’s autumn festival for the arts, to devise and perform its central production in 2018. An original production created by the company, with an age range of 6 to 67, ‘Boy in the Lighthouse’ ran for 5 nights to rapturous applause, and resulted in Sally Philips becoming a patron of the company.

Total Ensemble’s current outreach project, ‘From Costessey to Great Yarmouth and in Between’ is an opportunity for new participants to contribute to a brand-new performance piece, working title, ‘Embrace’. Performances will take place at St. George’s Theatre, Great Yarmouth on October 18th and 19th and again in other venues on November 9th, 18th, 24th, 25th, 27th and 29th in Great Yarmouth, Kings Lynn, Thetford and Cromer as part of a special mini tour of performances and workshops, the full details of which will be announced at a later date.

TETC particularly welcomes interest from individuals who have difficulties with learning, anxiety or accessibility and mobility, such as wheelchair users as well as independent, young adults, perhaps on a gap year, looking for an experience that will build skills and confidence for future training and the workplace. Of course, we also love to hear from more experienced, mature adults looking for a new challenge! The criteria for taking part is a commitment to encourage others as well as to work to the best of your ability with a desire to do the best you can in rehearsals and performance. Every individual contributes artistic content to every performance, regardless of age and experience. We work together as equals and everyone is supported by everyone else every step of the way.
