Salted Caramel is flavour combination that unites lovers of sweet and savoury alike. So is it any wonder that our chewy gooey Almond Salted Caramel Truffles are fast becoming one of the most popular Booja-Booja delights? There’s something magical about the marriage of saltiness and sweetness that tantalises the taste buds like neither sensation can do alone.
Our first Almond & Sea Salt Caramel Truffles appeared just a year and a half ago, when we launched our colourful Six Truffle Packs. But the idea of combining sweet and salt in cooking is as old as the hills and salted butter caramels have long been a traditional treat in Brittany, northern France. However, the birth of the modern ‘salted caramel’ is usually attributed to Parisian pastry chef Pierre Hermé who, in the late 1970s / early 1980s created salted caramel macaroons that inspired chefs across Europe and, notably America, where the salted caramel boom really took off.
Of course Booja-Booja Almond Salted Caramel Truffles don’t contain butter, or any dairy at all – just a little Booja-Booja magic to help turn a classic combination into something quite sensationally scrumptious. The salted caramel used in our truffles is made, to our own special recipe, here in Norfolk using British sea salt. It’s then combined with roasted Sicilian Almonds – superfoods in their own right, being high in vitamin E, magnesium and antioxidants – before being enrobed in smooth dark chocolate from the Dominican Republic. It’s as simple as that; the perfectly minimal number of organic ingredients, carefully blended by our experienced team to create the perfect taste sensation.
But you don’t need to take our word for it, within months of their launch our Almond & Sea Salt Caramel Truffles won a coveted 1-star Gold Great Taste Award from the Guild of Fine Food and they have a host of fans on social media too…
So is it any wonder we picked them as one of the three flavours to launch our new Two Truffle Packs? Yes, these little bites of heaven are now available in foil-wrapped, snack size packs, perfect for a little treat ‘on the go’. So if you’ve not tried them yet, what are you waiting for?
